Run out of cilantro at home? Or are you not a fan of this aromatic herb? And so you are looking for an alternative for your recipe? Don't worry, I share with you the alternatives to this herb that looks like parsley. My grandmother, a skilled cook, gave me her tips for replacing cilantro in my recipes. I must say that since I find his advice very sound, what to substitute for caraway? Here are 6 cilantro substitutes that can be found easily. Look :

What to replace the Cilantro? 6 Alternatives to This Aromatic Herb.

1. Parsley

Parsley belongs to the same family as coriander. It is therefore one of the best possible alternatives. It has the same color and almost the same leaf shape, especially if you take flat-leaf parsley. On the other hand, it is more bitter. It will surely have to be dosed differently. Shear a few sprigs of parsley in your recipes or in your soups. It's delicious.

2. Caraway From the parsley and coriander family, caraway is one of the closest herbs in taste. It is therefore perfect to replace it. Even at the color level, the substitution is invisible. Where to find caraway? You can find it on the markets, at some greengrocers or Asian grocers.

3. Cumin Cumin seeds are often used to flavor exotic dishes. Even if the taste of cumin is not similar to that of fresh coriander, it is distinctive enough to flavor your dishes. Be careful, just a few cumin seeds are enough to flavor your cooking. Don't overdo it!

4. Thai basil This variety of basil has a lemony and spicy aftertaste. It is therefore perfect to replace coriander provided you use fresh leaves In addition its color is similar. To give color to a salad, a soup or a curry, it's perfect. Can I use classic basil? Yes, of course...but the taste is quite different from that of coriander. In my opinion, it's not the best ersatz out there.

5. A bouquet of aromatic herbs This kind of bouquet can be found at greengrocers or in certain supermarkets. They contain sprigs of basil, flat-leaf parsley, dill, tarragon and oregano. This mixture can replace cilantro quite easily. The good side is that we keep the dark green color to color the dishes.

6. Garam Masala powder This powder is a mixture of dried Indian spices. And guess the best? Garam Masala is made from dried coriander. It also contains turmeric, pepper, cloves, bay leaf and cumin powder. Don't worry, it doesn't sting at all. However, there is a small downside. This powder is orange. We are therefore a long way from the green color of fresh coriander.
