The association 40 million motorists denounces a "selection by money"

Les tarifs de stationnement à Paris augmentent pour les visiteurs à partir de ce lundi

The resident rate does not, however, increase and mobile professional rates will be extended to merchants and craftsmen in the outer suburbs from 1 October. Parking will remain free for eligible low-emission vehicles.

The mayor of Paris places the reform of parking prices at the heart of a broader policy of eviction of thermal cars from the capital. The objective is thus to eliminate half of the parking spaces, ie an area of 60 hectares, to favor less polluting means of transport on the road.

The measure is not to the taste of motorists. Daniel Quero, leader of the association 40 million motorists thus denounces “a selection by money” which makes a distinction between those “who will have the means to pay for parking” despite the increase, and the others. According to him, the increase in tariffs is part of a budgetary logic which has the sole purpose of "bailing out the coffers of the indebted town hall". The association also fears that the city will turn “into a museum city and an economic desert” by depriving itself of the arrival of inhabitants of the Paris region. The motorcyclists had also expressed their dissatisfaction with the announcement of the upcoming pricing of their parking.
