Wintering Jet Ski: How to do it?

The season is over, now you have to think about winterizing your jet ski if you want to be able to enjoy the joys of your personal watercraft again next year.

Whether the engine is 2 or 4 stroke, winterizing your jet ski is a very important step to protect your machine from humidity, corrosion and temperature changes. This operation, essential from the fall, will protect the valves, injectors, fuel pump, battery and throttle body of your jet ski. Wintering is the way to avoid engine seizure which can lead to breakage purely and simply.

WINTERING JET SKI: HOW TO DO IT?

If you have a 2-stroke engine, the operation is to prevent corrosion of the crankshaft and pistons.

If you have a 4-stroke engine, don't worry about the crankshaft, which is already in oil, but you have to take care of the valves. A lack of maintenance of the valve seats as well as the valves themselves can cause them to corrode. If your valves are corroded then they will no longer be airtight and you are at risk of engine malfunction or even engine failure.

As you will have understood, the objective of winterizing your jet ski is to lubricate the inside of your engine to prevent it from corroding.

How to make wintering jet ski seadoo price?

You have two options, do it yourself if you have some technical knowledge or entrust this operation to your dealer. At matos Import we take particular care in the maintenance of your jet skis so that they last as long as possible.

I want to winterize my jet ski myself, how do I proceed?

The first step is to maintain your jet ski as usual: complete rinsing of the engine to remove the salt and thorough cleaning of the external parts.

Then we advise you to use a can of storage oil because it is easy to apply, it does not drip, which makes this step easier. The purpose of this operation is to lubricate the inside of your engine and thus prevent corrosion.

To winterize the engine of your jet ski, you must make it suck up the contents of the winterizing canister, here is a step-by-step procedure:

Rinse and clean your jet ski

Remove the air filter to access the engine intake

Put the jet ski in a well-ventilated place (outside if possible)

Start the engine to suck in the oil. To do this, maintain an acceleration for 40 to 50 seconds.

Switch off the engine until you get out of winter storage.

Remember to disconnect the water box and for even more protection, we recommend limiting contact between the engine and the outside air (presence of humidity) by blocking the exhaust and the intake. A simple rag will do.

Do not hesitate to protect the exterior of the engine by using a lubricant such as XPS Lubricant.

Your jet ski is thus protected from the cold, so you can put it back into service with peace of mind in the spring.
