A need for technological and human skills

At a time when teleworking and videoconference has become the standard, the skills relating to technology appear, not surprisingly, among the most sought after by French companies.We thus find in first place in the ranking established by Degreed, IT and programming.

But cognitive and social skills are also much sought after.After IT, it is communication and negotiation skills that are most popular with French companies, followed by creativity.In fifth position are the pedagogy and team training, while we find relational skills and empathy in eighth position.

Fear of the obsolescence of skills

The study also reveals the fear of workers to see their skills become overwhelmed in the near future.Almost half of the interviewees believe that their main skills will be obsolete within five years.In France, 15% of workers even believe that their skills will become obsolete in the year.

And while vocational training should fill these potential gaps, employees consider that they are not accompanied enough to deal with the new challenges.In France, 39% of those questioned believe that their employer offers them fewer opportunities to gain skills since the start of the pandemic.And according to 32% of them, their business is more likely to dismiss them rather than allowing them to acquire new skills.
