How to pray for the unity of Christians this year?

Since 1939, in its current form, the week of prayer for the unity of Christians is celebrated every year from January 18 to 25 (date of the feast of conversion of Saint Paul) by the Christians of the various confessions around the world. It is an opportunity, for all members of the churches (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant) to remember that Christ is the only foundation of the Church, and to pray together for a greater unity between them.

Unity, a gift from God

You have to leave there. The week of the unity of Christians is not first of all a time of reciprocal information or even of dialogue, but of fraternal prayer where, together, Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, we unite ours to that of Christ for "carry fruit in abundance ".

Fruit of the prayer of Christ, the unity of Christians is therefore fundamentally a gift that we hope for from God.The communion of the Father and the Son (in the Spirit) is the source of the unity of the Christians. And the sharing of the knowledge of the true God and the one he sent, Jesus Christ, his purpose.

"Stay in my love and you will have abundance fruit.(Jean, 15,1-17) The reference text, for the meditation of this year 2021, is taken from the Gospel of Jean.It is meditated, as every year, by an international and interconafessional commission, emanating from both the pontifical council for the promotion of the unity of Christians and the ecumenical council of churches.Ideas to live this prayer week for Christians are available on the site: https: // unitedesschretiens.Fr/

What unites us is much stronger than what divides us - such is the great discovery which is at the origin of the ecumenical movement. The most important element of our unity is the presence of the risen Christ who promised his disciples that he would be with them until the end of time. C'est dans ce contexte qu'est exprimée la promesse de Jésus qui sert de thème pour la Semaine de prière pour l'unité de cette année : "Stay in my love and you will have abundance fruit.(Jean, 15,1-17) It's up to us to make this very beautiful theme!
